Muse Cannabis Donates $4,000 to Saige Community Food Bank
Muse Cannabis is proud to announce it will be donating $4,000 to Vancouver’s Saige Community Food Bank (SCFB), as part of Muse: High Hopes, the company’s inaugural community giving campaign.
SCFB is a non-profit food share and community kitchen that provides a safe and inclusive space for two-spirit, transgender, gender non-conforming and queer individuals, offering essential food programs and a supportive community. It is open to any individuals in need of food, or that cannot access other food banks because of barriers such as ID, lack of housing, income or other specifics needed to be accepted.
“The Muse: High Hopes fundraiser was an opportunity to build awareness about food insecurity in our community and raise the profile of the Saige Community Food Bank, which provides important resources and a welcoming environment to those in need of a healthy meal. As a local business, we want to give back to the communities we serve, and we’re grateful that Muse’s generous customers came out to support the cause and the 2SLGBTQAI+ community,” said Geoff Dear, President at Muse Cannabis. “Everyone deserves to eat healthy food and we hope our $4,000 donation will help ensure that more people have the opportunity to eat a nutritious meal.”
“Saige Community Food Share is a two-fold, non-profit organization that saves food from going to the land fill and provides healthy food options in a Two-Spirit, Trans and Gender Diverse safe space that is open to all. Supporting local food banks is a great way to have an immediate impact. The demand for our services has increased as the cost of living continues to rise. Unfortunately, people are being forced to choose between paying bills and putting healthy food on the table. The donations from Muse and their customers will certainly make a real difference in helping members of our community have enough to eat, no matter what challenges they’re facing,” said Ryan Hunter, Saige Community Food Bank Co-founder & Director.
Muse: High Hopes took place on Friday, August 4 to help kick off Pride Weekend in Vancouver. The company collected 10% of all sales from its five Muse locations and musecannabis.ca to raise funds for SCFB’s unique programs that provide low-barrier access to healthy food. During the summer months, food banks often face a decrease in donations, making it a critical time to support organizations like SCFB.
Muse Cannabis is looking forward to launching its next community giving campaign to support local organizations in the Metro Vancouver region – stay tuned for more information!
