The Hot Seat: Meet our New President!
QUESTION: Welcome to Muse Cannabis Stores! How did you spend the holidays?
LUKE: Thank you so much - I am incredibly excited to join the Muse Family. When it comes to the Holiday Season, I’m such a big kid when it comes to this time of year. This time of year is all about family and friends - and specifically time with my children.
Our Must Do’s:
Watch Home Alone (1 & 2) as many times as possible
Watch all the Holiday shows that I loved as a child - Rudolph, Santa Claus is coming to town & Frosty the Snowman
Drive around and look how people have decorated their homes - there is something about lights at this time of year
Eat a Toblerone.
And of course, the excitement of the morning after the visit from the Big Man in Red. Lastly, we are very fortunate, a wonderful family meal with about 20+ people on Christmas day.
Q: I did some sleuthing and saw you were previously at Urban Barn which like Muse Cannabis Stores, also got its start here in Vancouver. What are you bringing from that experience to this new chapter at Muse Cannabis Stores?
L: I had an incredible journey with UB, as you noted, another great local Vancouver brand. When I started with Urban Barn, there are so many similarities to Muse today. What immediately comes to mind is to build on what our teams have already created; supporting us in spreading the Muse Brand and Experience we deliver daily, to more people in our current communities and in new communities where Muse would be a great fit.
Q: A common experience in this industry is combating negative stereotypes and stigmas associated with cannabis, even from friends and family. What would you tell folks who might be critical or skeptical of Canadian cannabis retail?
L: I would invite anyone to visit our stores - We’d love to see you. Our Stores are beautiful. Our people are warm and inviting. I truly feel the experience they would have visiting us would surprise them. Regardless of how you feel about cannabis, I believe anyone would realize that we are aiming to add to the communities we live and work in.
Given the importance of sustainability and social responsibility in the cannabis industry, how do you envision Muse Cannabis Stores contributing positively to our communities?
L: It’s essential we play a positive role in our communities. Something we already do, such as supporting Music Heals, is very important to us. We will continue to listen to our teams, and to our customers; where we feel a real connection, we will evolve and invest in those partnerships.
Q: In a hypothetical "Cannabis Chef Showdown," which celebrity chef do you think would have the best chance of creating a Michelin-star-worthy dish infused with cannabis, and what would it be called?
L: I would love to see Gino D’Acampo mix his style of fun and flair into a cannabis dish. His Signature dish is a Carbonara; I feel like the perfect name would be: ‘Chronic Carbonara’
Q: And for fun, we always ask if you could name a new cultivar/strain, what would you call it?
L: The BIG SAVE - I’m a huge hockey fan and a goalie, so I feel like this would be an awesome name. Nothing feels better than making a BIG SAVE - exhilarating and fun.
